Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What type of projects does GUSF sponsor?
A: Any kind of project, particularly if it exemplify any or all of our core values: innovation, community, interaction, environment, awareness, action, egolessness, service, and non-profit venture capital. Some projects are less complicated, such as an appreciation dinner to thank the unsung heros on campus. Other projects are more intricate, like helping Urban Harvest STL fundraise to create the downtown Food Roof.
Q: How much funding can I expect if my project is approved?
A: In the past, we have provided funding as small as $0 and as large as $1000 depending on the needs of the selected project. Our median grant size is $300. Regardless of funding level, we will provide project support.
Q: What type of support other than financial-aid can I expect if my project is approved?
A: The greatest strength that GUSF has to offer is our ability to provide a support network to ensure the success of your project. We have individuals currently in various professional fields across the country and contacts who are part of the greater St. Louis community with whom GUSF can put you in contact.
Q: How are grants awarded?
A: GUSF grants are awarded as reimbursements. Once you have been awarded a grant, we will reimburse you for receipts submitted related to your project. The details are described in the Grant Acceptance letter we send to grantees.
Q: Why are grant winners asked to remain anonymous?
A: GUSF believes that those who are awarded grants are creating a project that directly benefits the world around them. Our hope is that these egoless endeavors are the result of a desire to help others and not out of the pursuit for self-aggrandizement.
Q: How can I become a member of the GUSF team?
A: We welcome any and all help from individuals (students, teachers, professionals) who want to become part of the Greater University Service Foundation. Please contact us at [email protected] about getting involved.
